Day 1

Morning:

Begin your romantic escapade with a leisurely stroll along the pristine Binalong Bay Beach, where crystal-clear waters and unique red lichen-covered rock formations await, showcasing the Bay of Fires’ renowned beauty.

Embark on a culinary adventure at Lease 65 Oysters, indulging in the freshest oysters plucked straight from the waters in front of you. Pair them with a gourmet picnic lunch curated by Salty Picnic Co., who will set up your luxe experience at Sloop Reef Cove, a secluded spot tailor-made for a romantic beach picnic. Don’t miss the opportunity to dip into the Mermaid pool, a near perfectly round, 3m deep rockpool, naturally carved by the oceans power into the granite boulders, just above the high tide mark. Be sure to pack your snorkelling gear and head to ‘The Gardens’ for an underwater exploration of fascinating marine life and sea gardens of temperate climate seaweeds of all shapes and sizes. If you are lucky, you may even spot a weedy sea dragon (seahorse), southern rock lobster or black lip abalone.

Afternoon:

Take to the azure waters on a boat tour with Bay of Fires Eco Tours, departing conveniently from Binalong Bay’s main street. Encounter thriving seal colonies, seabirds, and perhaps even playful dolphins or majestic humpback and southern right whales, if you’re visiting between May and December. Your knowledgeable guide will share the salty stories of Binalong Bay and rich history of the Bay of Fires, including history of how first British explorers named the Bay of Fires when they saw fires burning along the coast line, lit by the palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal) people.

Evening:

Retreat to the Bay of Fires Bush Retreat, where luxury bell tents nestled in tranquil bushland offer the perfect romantic hideaway. Utilise the 5-star camp kitchen to prepare a delicious meal sourced from the onsite organic garden, or indulge in chef pre-prepared delights from the menu. End your evening by the campfire, toasting marshmallows under the starlit sky, stargazing into the night sky in one of the best places in the world to see the sparkling galaxies above.

For a more intimate retreat in Binalong Bay, discover the essence of wabi sabi at Sabi Stays. Inspired by Japanese onsen, the primary suite has a dedicated furo (deep Japanese bathtub). Embrace the charm of rustic simplicity and organic textures, allowing the serene atmosphere to inspire mindfulness and appreciation for the fleeting moments of tranquillity amidst nature’s embrace.
