Go Figure Exhibition at the Spring Bay Studio and Gallery

  • This event has passed.

2021 saw the group focusing on figurative works, with a process of creating a sculpture from found objects, making studies and a collage of that sculpture and finally painted works. The resulting exhibition ‘GO FIGURE’ shows just how varied interpretations can be.

In a parallel project, Studio members created small artworks on postcards, with the theme being left to the individual. The Front Gallery is showcasing nearly 130 of these small works, all of which are priced at $35 with a view to raising funds for the Studio.

GO FIGURE, and the SMALL WORKS FUNDRAISER is open every day in January 2022, from 10.30am to 2pm. With borders open again, we’re expecting some interstate and international visitors as well as Tassie locals – although all the Covid requirements may limit numbers.

The Tasmanian tourism industry acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a tourism industry that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors Tasmania's deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully. We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
