Picnic at Picaninny

  • This event has passed.

At this time with so much happening that we have to stand up against it is important we take time to come together to celebrate and honour our successes and those who protected places such as our magnificent and iconic Douglas Apsley National Park on the East  Coast of Tassie. This December is the 30th Anniversary of the Declaration of the Park.

Due to the forecasted dry and fire danger weather it was thought best to have the celebration outside the park. Klass and Andy have very kindly offered us part of Picaninny to hold the celebration.

What: Celebrating 30 years of Douglas Apsley National Park – Picnic at Picaninny

When: Saturday 7th December 11 – 4pm

Where: Picaninny

BYO something to share and a comfy chair and if you come from afar a tent!

Lets come together and honour and celebrate and share stories of people place, history and nature.

The Tasmanian tourism industry acknowledges the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita / Tasmania. We honour 40,000 years of uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement. As a tourism industry that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors Tasmania's deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully. We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today. We pay our respects to their elders, past and present. We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands. We respectfully ask that tourism be a part of that future.
