Coles Bay

The village of Coles Bay on Tasmania’s East Coast sits beneath pink granite mountains at the entrance to Freycinet National Park and is an ideal location for swimming, boating, kayaking and fishing. The Coles Bay area is one of Tasmania’s most popular holiday spots for visitors and locals.

The spectacular coastal scenery of the park includes Wineglass Bay, one of the world’s most photographed beaches. Follow the steep but well-designed ascent to the lookout for views of the Bay. If you prefer, you can take a cruise and experience the Bay from a very different perspective.

The Park offers great walking and is home to Tasmanian pademelons, white-breasted sea eagles and red-necked wallabies – and in season, there’s a spectacular display of native orchids.

Coles Bay is a 2 hr 30-min drive (192 km) from Hobart and a 2 hr 20-min drive (173 km) from Launceston.
