Discover Coles Bay & Freycinet National Park

Coles Bay is a small coastal town at the entrance to Freycinet National Park, famous for its stunning Wineglass Bay. The town sits below the striking peaks of The Hazards mountain range.

Known as the gateway to Freycinet (frey-sin-ay), Coles Bay is a great destination on its own. You can swim in the ocean, try fishing, or walk along nearby beaches like Richardsons, Muirs, or the Friendly Beaches. There are plenty of places to stay, with options to suit all budgets. You’ll also find a few shops, cafés, and restaurants in town.

Nature’s finest view?
It must be Wineglass Bay!

Freycinet National Park is just a short drive away. You can explore it in a few hours or spend days discovering its beauty. Start at the Visitor Centre to grab a map and plan your visit. The walk to the Wineglass Bay lookout is a must-do, offering incredible views of the famous bay. Feeling adventurous? Continue down to Wineglass Beach to walk on its white sand or take a refreshing swim. For experienced hikers, climb Mt Amos for breathtaking views and that iconic Wineglass Bay photo. The park also offers shorter walks and multi-day adventures.

This area is perfect for outdoor activities. Try sea kayaking, take a cruise to Wineglass Bay, or join a scenic flight over the peninsula. For something different, try a four-wheel drive or quad bike experience. If you prefer a slower pace, pack a picnic and relax on one of the beautiful beaches.

When hunger calls, visit one of the local cafés or restaurants for coffee, sweet treats or gourmet meals made with the freshest east coast produce. Don’t miss Freycinet Marine Farm, where you can try oysters, mussels, scallops, and southern rock lobster. Pair them with sparkling wine from the region for a true taste of the east coast.
